What we’ve lost, it seems to me, is the broad indie pipeline to both learning and socializing (and socially learning).
partly because we who learned it 20yrs ago have landed in more specialized/complex jobs.
As part of that ~20 year ago learning, I completely agree. The internet culture does not default to the web, the open thing we all fell in love with. The only way most folks interact online is through corporate captured channels. Raising this, the response is often some form of, “yeah and the sky is blue”. It feels that inevitable. But as we continually learn, change is a constant. What end of the scale do you want to press on?
