I’m thankful for being alive, having wonderful people in my life, and for readily available antacid.

My, a bald bearded white guy, taking a picture of myself in the mirror, one hand raised in the sign of "#1", wearing a slanket.

I continue to live that #1 slanket life.

Me, a bald whte man with a beard and glasses. I have a big patterned scrunchie tying my beard.

I’m getting into a new look.

The crossing signal on my (very busy!) street is broken, repeating “Change password” over and over instead of whether you should walk or not. What a wonderful use of technology 🙃

How to survive our authoritarian post-truth era.

My shitty photo of improv legends I saw the other night. They’re mostly in LA so felt special. All killer no filler.

On stage: Paul Scheer, Jason Mantzoukas, Rob Huebel, Edi Patterson, Lisa Gilroy, Carl Tart, Seth Morris, Owen Burke, Chad Carter, Phil Augusta Jackson.

Saw my roommate’s band Faith/Void play a fundraiser for Astoria Food Pantry. Great turnout and raised a lot of money. Give if you’re feeling it! 🎸

Screenshot of a music player song listing. It says "Yakety Sax" by Benny Hill, with a runtime of 04:32

Reminder that Yakety Sax is over four minutes.

Anora, 2024 - ★★★★

Best comedy of the year.

Had a lovely time at NEDCamp as always. Thanks to all the organizers and speakers for such a great con.

A fortune from a fortune cookie. It reads, "A special someone will enter your life in December."

Got this the other day. Is it…Santa?

Well, fuck that 🇺🇸

I’ve been collecting myself since the election. This blog isn’t going to turn into a negative spiral, or focus on just politics. I’m still going to post the same silly stuff, but I am processing this, and I will be speaking out.

It’s devastating. The election results aren’t a shock, but they’re gut wrenching. Not because he’s changed, we know who he is, but because we knowingly chose him. Again.

I’m sad and angry and scared. People love a little fascist flirt.

Well, fuck that.

Make no mistake, the man will try to seize our democracy. And when your life isn’t immediately wrecked, maybe you’ll let his hate mongering and naked power grabs slide. That’s what they want.

Well, fuck that.

You don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Look at opinion polls on abortion before and after Roe was overturned. That’s just the beginning. Project 2025 is a promise.

Well, fuck that.

If you think he can’t get away with it, if you think it can’t happen here, if you think it won’t effect you, if you think all these warnings are a bit dramatic, and maybe it’ll be bad, but fine, really, in the end, some good will come of it too, I’m sure, if you think a strongman will solve your problems, then you haven’t been paying attention.

Well, fuck that.

He can get away with it, and it can happen here. The thing that can make it less dramatic is you. And me. Us. We still have a democracy, or some semblance of one. It takes we the people to keep it.

What fascists want is to keep folks ignorant and scared and alienated. That keeps them in power and their pockets lined, at all of our expense.

Well, fuck that.

Get involved in your local community, support your loved ones, volunteer, teach, make art, get out of the house and be with the teaming masses. Humanity is messy and flawed and you will be disappointed and exasperated.

Good.

You’ll also be inspired and filled up. Connection with each other is ultimately all we have. Keep your joy. Fascists want to steal that shit.

Well, fuck that.

An almost monochrome photo of the RFK bridge in deep shadow. Dramatic clouds streak overhead. There's a ton of film grain.

Capturing the mood.

Video Diary of a Lost Girl, 2012 - ★★★★

This movie is sex with a ghost.

If you’re a piece of shit, they put you in charge. 🇺🇸

Kiki's Delivery Service, 1989 - ★★★★★

Perfect.

Mrs. Doubtfire, 1993

Pretty evil, and Robin Williams should be in jail, but he falls down funny a few times.

The Beast, 2023 - ★★★★★

Hat an astonishing film.

Astoria Park was really nice yesterday.

Yeah, I’m just peeping bridges.
